The result was an investment in an HSG HS G3015H with a 20 kW laser source, delivered by LMI in December 2024 \u2013 a solution that today forms a central part of Nordtek\u2019s production. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A FAMILY BUSINESS WITH LONG INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE<\/h3>\n\n<p>Nordtek is a family-owned company with roots dating back to 1991.<br \/>After several ownership changes, the founder Krister Koch took over the business again in 2002.<br \/>Since then, the company has been run by the Koch family \u2013 with Joakim Koch as CEO, together with Jimmy Koch.<br \/><\/p>\n\n<p>Today, Nordtek has 11 employees and works with subcontracting and manufacturing assignments for a broad customer base.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE CHALLENGE \u2013 DEPENDENCE ON EXTERNAL SUBCONTRACT CUTTING<\/h3>\n\n<p>Before the investment, Nordtek faced clear production challenges.<br \/><em>\u2013 The challenge was that we were always in someone else\u2019s hands. We were dependent on suppliers\u2019 lead times for subcontract-cut material,<\/em><br \/>says Joakim Koch, CEO.<\/p>\n\n<p>Annually, Nordtek purchased subcontract-cut materials for large sums of money, which resulted in:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>bottlenecks in production<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>limited flexibility<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>longer lead times to customers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>At the same time, the existing plasma cutting had reached its technical limit.<br \/><em><strong>\u2013 The plasma had done its job. The question was: what is our next step?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-dominant-color=\"45423b\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #45423b;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"948\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lmiab.se\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/personal-filip-jimmy-joakim-1024x948.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2725 not-transparent\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lmiab.se\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/personal-filip-jimmy-joakim-1024x948.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.lmiab.se\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/personal-filip-jimmy-joakim-300x278.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lmiab.se\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/personal-filip-jimmy-joakim-768x711.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.lmiab.se\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/personal-filip-jimmy-joakim.jpg 1500w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p><em><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-palette-color-2-color\">Filip Lundberg, operator, Jimmy Koch, co-owner, and Joakim Koch, CEO and co-owner<\/mark><\/em><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE REQUIREMENT THAT GOVERNED EVERYTHING \u2013 STABLE CUTTING IN 40 MM PLATE<\/h3>\n\n<p>For Nordtek, the requirements were clear from the start:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>stable and repeatable cutting in up to 40 mm mild steel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>high quality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a future-proof solution<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Several suppliers were skeptical \u2013 most claimed that it simply was not possible to achieve stable laser cutting at these thicknesses.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WHY LMI WAS CHOSEN<\/h3>\n\n<p>When the dialogue with LMI gained momentum, the picture changed.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>\u2013 Niklas at LMI presented a solution that actually met our requirements. That was decisive,<\/em><br \/>says Joakim Koch.<\/p>\n\n<p>LMI AB\u2019s advisory approach was characterized by:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>technical competence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>understanding of Nordtek\u2019s real needs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>long experience in laser technology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><em>\u2013 It felt right with LMI. LMI showed that they know what they\u2019re doing,<\/em><br \/>says Joakim Koch<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DELIVERY, INSTALLATION AND START-UP \u2013 A PARTNERSHIP IN PRACTICE<\/h3>\n\n<p>Delivery and installation were carried out according to plan, but the start-up involved technical challenges \u2013 especially in the thickest material ranges.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>\u2013 It took some time. I was even a bit discouraged for a while, but the reason was a very difficult product where the details were too close to each other, which we later solved with the help of LMI,<\/em><br \/>says Joakim Koch.<\/p>\n\n<p>Here, the collaboration with LMI proved crucial.<br \/><em>\u2013 LMI didn\u2019t give up. They supported us in a really good way and helped us achieve proper cutting in the critical 40 mm material. Once it worked \u2013 it worked really well.<br \/>LMI was available throughout the entire process and took responsibility until the solution worked fully in production.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE RESULT \u2013 FREEDOM, FLEXIBILITY AND NEW OPPORTUNITIES<\/h3>\n\n<p>Today, the effect is clear.<br \/><em>\u2013 The investment has given us freedom, opportunities, and jobs.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img data-dominant-color=\"555a52\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"932\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lmiab.se\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/maskin-opertorvy-1024x932.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2729 not-transparent\" style=\"--dominant-color: #555a52; width:861px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lmiab.se\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/maskin-opertorvy-1024x932.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.lmiab.se\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/maskin-opertorvy-300x273.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lmiab.se\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/maskin-opertorvy-768x699.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.lmiab.se\/app\/uploads\/2026\/03\/maskin-opertorvy.jpg 1500w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p><em><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-palette-color-2-color\">Filip and Joakim are the ones operating the laser machine to a large extent.<\/mark><\/em><\/p>\n\n<p>Nordtek now has:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>full control over laser cutting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>faster and more flexible order handling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>better quality overview<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>shorter lead times to customers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The next step is to increasingly offer subcontract laser cutting to external customers.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>\u2013 Now we know it works. We will push marketing more going forward. <\/em><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE OPERATOR\u2019S PERSPECTIVE<\/h3>\n\n<p>The difference is also clearly noticeable in production.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>\u2013 Compared to plasma, the laser delivers better results, faster and more flexible work \u2013 and a much cleaner working environment,<\/em><br \/>says Filip Lundberg, machine operator.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A LONG-TERM COLLABORATION<\/h3>\n\n<p>The collaboration with LMI continues even after delivery.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>\u2013 LMI has supported us all the way and never given up, despite challenges in the beginning,<\/em><br \/>says Joakim Koch.<\/p>\n\n<p>When asked whether Nordtek would recommend LMI to others, the answer is clear:<br \/><em>\u2013 Absolutely.
