Laser service & support

LMI operates a dedicated technical service team that handles installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency support. We also offer service contracts and a well-stocked inventory of spare and consumable parts.

Brief company history

1982

Tim Smith begins professionally repairing laser machines, becoming one of the first in Sweden to work with industrial laser systems.

1990

In the early 1990s, Tim establishes a close partnership with Laser Machining Inc. (USA). Throughout the decade, the business grows rapidly, laying the foundation for what would later become LMI AB.

1997

LMI AB is founded, with Tim Smith as the driving force and Anders Matsson joining the company.

2002

The American company Laser Machining Inc. is acquired by Preco Inc. and changes its name. LMI AB retains its original name and continues its operations in Sweden.

2004

LMI becomes the exclusive agent for Electrox marking systems in Scandinavia.

2017

LMI becomes a reseller of Bodor laser machines.

2018

LMI moves into a new, purpose-built facility in Hjärpholn, Nås.

2022

LMI signs an agreement with IPG Photonics and becomes an official service partner for IPG Photonics in Scandinavia.

2023

LMI becomes a full-service partner of world-leading IPG Photonics, providing service and support for their laser systems throughout Scandinavia.

2024

LMI transitions from Bodor to HSG Laser for larger laser cutting machines.

2025

LMI becomes a Precitec partner in Scandinavia, providing both sales and service for Precitec laser heads.
