IPG YLR Series

IPG YLR Series

The IPG YLR Series consists of compact, rack-mounted fiber lasers for industrial laser processing. The series combines high beam quality, efficient fiber laser technology and a compact design, making YLR laser sources well suited for integration into both new and existing laser systems.

The YLR Series is available in several power levels and configurations for applications including laser welding, laser cutting and other industrial laser processes. LMI AB can help select the correct laser source and configuration based on the application, required power and other components in the laser system.

Rack-Mounted Fiber Lasers

One of the key characteristics of the IPG YLR Series is its compact rack-mounted design. The laser source can be integrated into machines, automation cells and other laser systems without requiring the larger cabinet format typically used for the highest laser power levels.

This makes the YLR Series particularly suitable for systems where installation space, integration and flexibility are important factors.

CW Fiber Lasers for Industrial Laser Processing

The YLR Series is based on IPG’s fiber laser technology and includes continuous-wave (CW) laser sources for industrial material processing. Depending on the configuration, both single-mode and multi-mode versions are available.

Single-mode lasers provide very high beam quality and allow the laser beam to be focused to a small spot. Multi-mode configurations are used where other combinations of power, fiber diameter and beam characteristics are better suited to the process.

Power Levels and Configurations

IPG offers the YLR Series in a range of power levels and optical configurations. In the current standard product range, single-mode versions are available with powers up to 3 kW and multi-mode versions with powers up to 8 kW.

YLR for Laser Welding

The YLR Series is well suited for automated laser welding systems where compact integration, stable laser performance and good process control are important.

The laser source can be combined with different welding heads, scanner systems and automation solutions depending on the application. The choice of power, beam quality and fiber diameter influences factors such as focal spot size, power density, penetration and the available process window.

YLR for Laser Cutting and Other Material Processing

YLR lasers can also be used for laser cutting and other processes where the high efficiency and beam characteristics of fiber laser technology provide advantages.

The appropriate configuration depends on factors including material, material thickness, required processing speed and the optical system used together with the laser source.

Single-Mode and Multi-Mode

The YLR Series is available with different beam characteristics. Single-mode versions provide very high beam quality and are suitable for processes where a small focal spot and high power density are important.

Multi-mode versions are available with different fiber diameters, allowing the beam characteristics to be matched to applications such as welding, cutting and other material processing operations.

Selecting the correct laser source therefore involves more than laser power alone. Beam quality, fiber diameter, optics and process requirements must be considered as parts of the complete laser system.

Easy Integration into Laser Systems

The rack-mounted design makes the YLR Series particularly suitable for integration into industrial machines and automation solutions. The laser source can be combined with laser processing heads, scanner systems, process fibers, optics and control systems to create a complete solution for the required process.

LMI AB works with both complete laser systems and individual components and can therefore assist throughout the complete chain from laser source to the finished laser process.

Service and Support for IPG YLR

LMI AB has extensive experience with IPG fiber lasers and provides service, troubleshooting and support for YLR laser sources used in industrial laser systems.

We can also assist with peripheral equipment and components such as process fibers, laser heads, optics and other parts that affect the performance and reliability of the complete laser system.

Which IPG YLR Is Right for Your Application?

Selecting the correct laser source depends on considerably more than the required output power. The application, material, process, beam quality, fiber diameter, optics, cooling and integration requirements all influence which YLR configuration is most suitable.

Contact LMI AB and we will help you specify the correct IPG YLR laser source and associated components for your laser system.
