IPG Laser Service

– Authorised Service in Sweden and Norway

LMI AB is an authorised service partner for IPG Photonics in Sweden and Norway. Our IPG-certified service technicians support industrial customers with troubleshooting, repair, installation, preventive maintenance and technical support for IPG laser sources.

When a laser is down, time is critical. A service case therefore normally begins with an analysis of the laser source log file. In approximately 90 percent of cases, our technicians can identify the cause from the log file and provide the customer with an initial diagnosis quickly. The diagnosis is then verified by IPG’s service organisation before the final service intervention is planned.

Many Years of Experience with IPG Laser Technology

LMI AB has worked with IPG Photonics for many years and has extensive experience of selling, installing and working with IPG laser sources in industrial applications.

LMI AB became an official IPG Photonics service partner in 2022 and a full-service partner in 2023. The combination of IPG training and certification with our practical experience of laser sources, machines and laser processes is an important part of our service organisation.

This gives the customer access to a local service partner with its own technical expertise while retaining direct access to IPG’s specialist organisation when additional expert support is required.

Rapid Diagnosis When a Laser Stops

When an IPG laser suffers an unexpected shutdown, the first step is normally to determine the cause before a technician is dispatched. LMI AB therefore requests a log file from the laser source, which is analysed by our IPG-certified service technicians.

In approximately 90 percent of cases, we can identify the cause of the problem from the log file and provide the customer with a rapid initial diagnosis.

IPG’s service department then verifies the diagnosis. If LMI AB cannot determine the cause, IPG’s own service specialists take over the analysis and establish the cause with a very high level of accuracy.

How a Typical IPG Service Case Works

  1. The customer reports the breakdown – LMI AB receives information about the laser source, machine and symptoms.
  2. The log file is sent to LMI AB – we request the log file from the IPG laser source.
  3. The log file is analysed – our IPG-certified technicians make an initial diagnosis and can identify the cause in approximately 90 percent of cases.
  4. IPG verifies the diagnosis – IPG’s service organisation checks the analysis or takes over the diagnosis if further specialist investigation is required.
  5. The customer receives a quotation – the recommended service intervention is quoted according to IPG’s current price list.
  6. The customer approves the intervention – once the quotation is accepted, LMI AB orders the service intervention from IPG.
  7. The case receives a SCAFF number – IPG registers the intervention and assigns a work/SCAFF number to the service case.
  8. Spare parts are secured – required components are taken from LMI AB’s IPG spare-parts stock or ordered from IPG.
  9. The service intervention is carried out – our service technicians perform the work with the aim of returning the laser source to operation as quickly as possible.

Quotation Based on IPG’s Price List

Once the cause of the problem has been established, the customer receives a quotation for the required service intervention. The quotation is based directly on IPG’s current service price list.

This provides a clear and transparent process in which the customer knows what work is recommended and what it will cost before the intervention is ordered.

Local Stock of IPG Spare Parts

LMI AB stocks a selection of spare parts for IPG lasers to enable common service interventions to be carried out as efficiently as possible.

In many service cases, the components required are already available in our IPG spare-parts stock. If a specific component is not available, it is ordered from IPG before the service intervention is scheduled and carried out.

On-Site Service

When a service intervention needs to be carried out on site, our IPG-trained technicians travel to the customer’s facility. LMI AB has technicians working with service and support for industrial laser systems and provides IPG service at customer sites in Sweden and Norway.

Our service organisation has access to the equipment, technical documentation and support from IPG required for qualified diagnosis and repair of IPG laser sources.

Installation and Preventive Maintenance

IPG Laser Service is not limited to unexpected breakdowns. LMI AB also provides installation, commissioning and preventive maintenance for IPG laser sources.

Regular maintenance can reduce the risk of unplanned downtime and make it possible to identify potential problems before they affect production.

The appropriate service interval depends on factors including laser model, operating hours, application and production environment. LMI AB can help assess the appropriate level of service for the equipment.

Direct Support from IPG Photonics

As an authorised service partner, LMI AB works closely with IPG Photonics and has access to IPG technical support, training resources and genuine spare parts.

When a service case requires additional specialist expertise, our technicians can work directly with IPG’s service organisation. The customer therefore retains a local point of contact while IPG’s own experts remain available in the background.
