Precitec ProCutter Thunder is a high-performance laser cutting head for efficient and cost-effective 2D and 3D laser cutting in the medium-power range. The combination of high dynamics, stable distance control and automatic focus adjustment provides excellent conditions for high and reproducible cutting quality.

ProCutter Thunder can be used in flat-sheet cutting systems as well as for tube, profile and 3D cutting and is available in configurations for laser powers up to 12 kW.

For flexible industrial laser cutting

ProCutter Thunder is designed for industrial laser cutting systems where precision, reliability and cost-effective production are important requirements. The cutting head is suitable for both continuous series production and flexible manufacturing with varying materials and geometries.

The highly dynamic drive enables rapid adjustment of the focus position and helps reduce non-productive time. The focus can be adapted to the material, material thickness and process conditions to create a stable cutting process.

2D and 3D laser cutting

ProCutter Thunder can be configured for different types of cutting applications.

The 2D version is designed for flat-sheet cutting systems and can also be used in tube and profile applications.

The 3D version is designed for processing tubes, profiles and complex three-dimensional components where the cutting head needs to follow the workpiece geometry with high precision.

This makes ProCutter Thunder suitable for applications including sheet metal processing, machine manufacturing, contract manufacturing, automotive production and component manufacturing.

Stable distance control

Maintaining a stable distance between the nozzle and the workpiece is essential for reproducible cutting results. ProCutter Thunder uses Precitec sensor technology for continuous and precise control of the distance to the material.

The low-drift distance sensor is designed to maintain stable control even at high machine accelerations. This contributes to consistent, perpendicular cutting edges and reduced burr formation.

Fast and automatic focus adjustment

The motorised focus adjustment enables the focus position to be changed quickly during processing. The focus can therefore be adapted to different materials, thicknesses and cutting parameters without manual adjustment of the cutting head.

The dynamic focus control contributes to high process flexibility and helps reduce setup times when switching between different production tasks.

CutBox Pro and system integration

ProCutter Thunder can be integrated with Precitec CutBox Pro, which serves as a central control unit and interface between the cutting head and the machine control system.

Relevant sensor and process data can be integrated into the PLC environment via fieldbus communication. Real-time control of the focus position and continuous recording of process data provide additional opportunities for monitoring and stable process control.

Protected optics and easy maintenance

ProCutter Thunder is designed for fast and straightforward servicing. The optical components are easily accessible and protective windows can be replaced without tools, helping to reduce service time and production downtime.

The protective window helps protect the valuable internal optics from contamination and particles generated in the process zone. Together with the cutting head’s cooling system, this provides good conditions for stable operation even during continuous production.
