Lasermet LR Series – Laser Safety Eyewear for Industrial Laser Applications
Lasermet LR Series is a comprehensive range of laser safety eyewear with mineral glass filters for professional and industrial laser applications. The series combines a wide selection of laser filters with several different frame styles to provide the appropriate protection, fit and field of view for the specific laser process.
Mineral glass filters are available for a broad range of wavelengths and laser types, making the LR Series suitable for applications ranging from fibre lasers, Nd:YAG and diode lasers to CO₂ lasers and short-pulse laser systems.
Mineral Glass Filters for Laser Protection
The LR Series uses absorbing mineral glass filters with different spectral characteristics depending on the laser radiation that needs to be blocked. For certain filters, absorption is combined with interference technology to achieve the required protection characteristics.
Mineral glass provides high optical quality and is particularly suitable for many industrial laser applications. Lasermet offers a wide range of filter options for applications including:
- fibre lasers
- Nd:YAG lasers
- disc lasers
- diode lasers
- CO₂ lasers
- Ti:Sapphire lasers
- frequency-converted lasers
- short-pulse and ultrashort-pulse lasers
- laser welding, laser cutting and laser drilling
Certified Laser Safety Filters
Lasermet mineral glass filters for laser protection are certified according to EN 207. Filters intended for laser alignment are certified according to EN 208 where specified for the particular filter type.
The required filter and protection level depend on the characteristics of the laser. Factors such as wavelength, output power or pulse energy, pulse duration and exposure must therefore always be considered when selecting laser safety eyewear.
Wide Range of Filters and Wavelengths
The LR Series includes a wide selection of filters with different spectral characteristics and levels of visible light transmission (VLT). Filter colour and light transmission vary depending on the wavelengths that need to be blocked and the required protection level.
Filters are available for visible wavelengths, near infrared (NIR), infrared (IR), UV and frequency-converted lasers. High-transmission filters are also available for applications where a bright field of view and good colour perception are important.
Filter Options in the LR Series
The Lasermet LR Series includes a wide range of mineral glass filters for different laser types, wavelengths and protection levels. The extensive filter range makes it possible to adapt the laser safety eyewear to the specific laser process while selecting an appropriate combination of protection level, visible light transmission and frame style.
Filter options are available for applications including:
- fibre, disc and Nd:YAG lasers
- diode lasers
- CO₂ and CO lasers
- Ti:Sapphire lasers
- frequency-converted lasers and harmonic wavelengths
- short-pulse and ultrashort-pulse (USP) lasers
- laser processing applications such as welding, cutting and drilling
- laser alignment for specified wavelength ranges
The filters are available in different colours and with different levels of visible light transmission (VLT). Depending on the filter, options range from very low light transmission for demanding protection applications to filters with more than 70% VLT for applications where a bright field of view is important.
Examples of filters in the LR Series include KA for pump diode, YAG, fibre and disc lasers, KD for applications including IR fibre, disc, Nd:YAG and CO₂ lasers, and PG for a broad range of laser types including short-pulse laser systems.
The appropriate filter cannot be selected based on laser type alone. The correct filter depends on factors including wavelength, output power or pulse energy, pulse duration and the required protection level. LMI AB helps you select the appropriate filter and compatible frame style for your specific application.
Select the Frame to Suit the Application and Fit
Lasermet mineral glass filters can be combined with different frame styles depending on the filter and application. The frames differ in fit, field of view, coverage and their ability to be worn over prescription eyewear.
Antonov (AN)

Antonov is a robust, full-coverage frame that can be worn over prescription eyewear. The frame can also be fitted with different types of seals and head straps to suit the working environment.
Chief (CH)

Chief is a robust frame with adjustable temples and generous coverage around the eyes. The model can be worn over prescription eyewear and combined with several filters in the LR Series.
Fortress (FF)

Fortress has a compact design and can be used with a head strap for a secure fit. Its construction provides good coverage around the eyes and is suitable for applications where the eyewear needs to remain securely in position during use.
Lancer (LA)

Lancer is a lightweight reinforced frame with adjustable temples. The model can also be used with a head strap and combines low weight with good coverage around the eyes.
Martin (MA)

Martin is a lightweight frame with a broad field of view and adjustable temples. Its design allows the model to be worn over many types of prescription eyewear.
Spirit (SP)

Spirit is a reinforced and relatively slim frame with a broad field of view and adjustable temples. The model is designed to combine protection with a lightweight and comfortable fit.
Tigershark (TG)

Tigershark is a lightweight, sporty frame with a broad field of view, nose support and adjustable temples. Its compact design is well suited to applications where low weight and unrestricted vision are priorities.
The Right Laser Safety Eyewear for the Right Laser
Laser safety eyewear is not universal. A filter that provides appropriate protection for one laser or wavelength may not provide sufficient protection for another laser. Selection should therefore always be based on the specific laser installation and an appropriate risk assessment.
When selecting laser safety eyewear, factors that need to be considered include:
- laser wavelength or wavelength range
- laser class and output power
- CW or pulsed laser operation
- pulse energy and pulse duration
- required protection level
- visible light transmission and viewing conditions
- fit and working environment
Laser safety eyewear is personal protective equipment and should be used as part of a comprehensive laser safety solution. It does not replace engineering controls such as enclosures, laser safety curtains, interlock systems and other protective barriers.
