Lasermet TT Series – Polycarbonate Laser Safety Windows
Lasermet TT Series is a range of polycarbonate laser safety windows for safe visual monitoring of laser processes. The windows allow operators to view the process inside an enclosure or protected laser area while the filter provides protection against specified laser wavelengths.
Polycarbonate provides a lightweight and cost-effective solution and is particularly suitable where larger viewing areas or customised dimensions are required. The TT Series includes several filters with different wavelength ranges, optical density (OD), colours and visible light transmission (VLT).
Laser Protection with Clear Process Visibility
A laser safety window allows the laser process to be monitored without opening the enclosure or entering the controlled laser area. The window can therefore be integrated as part of the protective barrier surrounding the laser process.
The TT Series includes filters for a broad range of laser types and wavelengths, including UV, Nd:YAG, near infrared (NIR), KTP, Argon Ion, Alexandrite, HeNe, red diode and CO₂ lasers.
TT Series – Filter Options
The appropriate filter is selected according to the characteristics of the laser. Filter options differ in wavelength range, optical density, colour, visible light transmission and thickness.
TT-F-A
Clear polycarbonate filter for UV and CO₂ lasers. The filter provides very high visible light transmission with 90% VLT and has a thickness of 4.75 mm.
TT-F-B
Orange filter for applications including Argon Ion and KTP lasers. The filter has 41% VLT and a thickness of 3.6 mm.
TT-F-C
Blue filter for applications including Ruby, HeNe and red diode lasers. The filter has 63% VLT and a thickness of 3.6 mm.
TT-F-D
Green filter for Nd:YAG and near infrared (NIR). The filter includes protection at 1064 nm and has 40% VLT. Thickness is 3.6 mm.
TT-F-E
Brown filter with a broader protection range for applications including Nd:YAG, NIR, KTP and Argon Ion lasers. The filter has 16.5% VLT and a thickness of 3.6 mm.
TT-F-F
Pink filter for Alexandrite lasers within specified wavelength ranges. The filter has 25% VLT and a thickness of 3.6 mm.
TT-F-G
Yellow-green filter for Nd:YAG lasers. The filter provides high visible light transmission with 65% VLT and has a thickness of 3.2 mm.
TT-F-H
Filter for Nd:YAG and near infrared applications with 42% VLT. Thickness is 3.8 mm.
TT-F-I
Green filter with a broad spectral range for applications including UV, He:Cd, NIR, Nd:YAG and telecommunications wavelengths. The filter has 25% VLT and a thickness of 3.6 mm.
Standard Sizes
Lasermet TT filters are available in several standard sizes:
- 610 × 915 mm
- 610 × 610 mm
- 210 × 297 mm (A4)
- 100 × 200 mm
Customised Laser Safety Windows
Polycarbonate filters can also be supplied in customised dimensions up to the maximum available filter size, typically 915 × 610 mm.
Lasermet can also machine the filters according to engineering drawings so that they are supplied ready for integration into machines, enclosures and other laser safety solutions. This is particularly useful for repeat requirements or installations requiring several identical windows.
Selecting the Correct Filter for the Laser
Colour or transparency alone is not sufficient to determine whether a laser safety window provides the required protection. Filter selection must be based on the specific laser installation and its risk assessment.
Factors that need to be considered when selecting a laser safety window include:
- laser wavelength or wavelength range
- laser class and output power
- CW or pulsed laser operation
- pulse energy and pulse duration
- required optical density and protection level
- required visible light transmission (VLT)
- window size and position
- expected type and level of laser exposure
Polycarbonate windows are particularly useful where low weight, larger dimensions and cost-effectiveness are priorities. For applications with higher requirements for protection levels and optical transmission, a mineral glass laser safety window may be a more suitable alternative.
