TYKMA Electrox EMS300

TYKMA Electrox EMS300 – Flexible Laser Marking for Large Components

TYKMA Electrox EMS300 is a robust floor-standing laser marking workstation for large components, batch production and customised marking solutions. Its generous working area is combined with programmable focus height, an automatic pneumatic door and extensive possibilities for integrating fixtures, XY tables, rotary axes and other component handling solutions.

Industrial Laser Marking of Large Components

EMS300 is designed for industrial applications where a smaller standard machine does not provide sufficient working space or flexibility.

The large floor-standing workstation features an open internal working area that can be adapted to the component and the specific production process.

This makes EMS300 particularly suitable for larger machine components, fixtures, batch marking and applications where the system needs to be configured around the customer’s product.

TYKMA positions EMS300 as a platform for both standard and customised component handling solutions.

Generous Working Area

One of the key strengths of EMS300 is its large working area.

Depending on the selected optics, the system can accommodate components up to approximately 670 mm wide, 700 mm deep and up to approximately 700 mm high. The maximum component weight is specified as 50 kg.

This makes it possible to mark components that are too large or cumbersome for more compact workstations.

The generous internal space also provides ample room for fixtures and other component handling solutions.

Designed for Customised Solutions

EMS300 is more than simply a large laser-safe enclosure.

The system platform is designed to be adapted to the actual production application.

Possible configurations include XY systems, customised fixtures, automatic tag feeders and other specially developed component handling solutions.

This means that EMS300 can begin as a relatively conventional operator-loaded marking workstation but can also be expanded for more advanced production processes.

LMI helps configure the complete system based on the component, production volume, marking requirements and required level of automation.

Programmable Focus Height

EMS300 features programmable focus height as standard.

The height of the laser head is controlled through the software, allowing the correct focus position to be set for different components.

This is particularly useful when the same workstation is used for several products of different heights.

Programmable height adjustment reduces the need for manual settings and contributes to faster product changeovers and repeatable marking results.

Automatic pneumatic door

EMS300 is equipped with a vertically opening pneumatic door with an integrated safety system.

An automatic operating mode is also available, allowing door operation to be integrated into the working cycle.

This reduces the number of manual operations required during repetitive production.

The vertical door design also provides excellent access to the working area when loading and unloading larger components.

Adapted with the Right Laser Technology

EMS300 can be configured with different laser technologies depending on the material and application.

For the current EMS300 platform, TYKMA specifies 20–100 W MOPA fibre lasers, 10 W UV lasers and 60–100 W CO₂ lasers.

This allows the same workstation platform to be used for a wide range of materials.

MOPA fibre laser technology is a common choice for metals and many engineering plastics, while UV and CO₂ lasers provide additional possibilities for materials requiring different wavelengths.

LMI helps you select the right laser technology, power, wavelength and optics based on the material and required marking result.

What Can Be Marked with EMS300?

The materials that can be marked depend on the laser source installed in the system.

With the appropriate configuration, EMS300 can be used for materials including:

  • Stainless steel
  • Steel
  • Aluminium and anodised aluminium
  • Titanium
  • Brass and other metals
  • Many engineering plastics
  • Painted and coated components
  • Additional materials suitable for UV or CO₂ laser processing

The exact marking result depends on the material properties, selected laser technology, optics and programmed laser parameters.

Batch Marking of Multiple Components

The large working area also makes EMS300 well suited to batch marking.

A customised fixture can accommodate multiple smaller components that are loaded into the workstation simultaneously.

Depending on the application, the components can be marked within a common optical marking field or combined with a motorised XY table that positions different areas of the fixture beneath the laser.

This reduces the number of manual loading operations and can provide significantly higher productivity in repetitive production.

Optional XY Table

Unlike EMS400, EMS300 does not have a large programmable XY system as its defining standard feature.

However, an XY table can be integrated as part of a customised EMS300 solution.

An XY table can be used to automatically move between multiple components within a fixture or between different marking positions on a larger component.

It can also be used for tiling, where a larger design is divided into several smaller optical marking fields.

EMS300 can therefore be configured for significantly more advanced component handling when required by the application.

Rotary Marking of Cylindrical Components

EMS300 can also be equipped with a rotary unit.

The rotary axis allows the component to be rotated in a controlled manner during the marking process, enabling marking around its circumference.

This is useful for shafts, cylindrical machine parts, tools and other round components.

In a customised EMS300 configuration, the rotary axis can be combined with other motion and fixturing solutions.

Typical Applications

EMS300 is suitable for a wide range of industrial marking applications, including:

  • Large machine components
  • Automotive components
  • Tools and fixtures
  • Industrial components
  • Batch Marking of Multiple Components
  • Märkning på flera positioner
  • Serial numbers and part numbers
  • Data Matrix codes and QR codes
  • Barcodes
  • UID and traceability marking
  • Logos and graphical symbols
  • Product and manufacturing information
  • Nameplates and identification plates
  • Cylindrical components
  • Customised automated marking applications

Laser marking provides a permanent mark and normally requires no consumables such as inks, labels or chemicals.

Integration of Fixtures and Component Handling

For many industrial marking projects, the laser itself is only one part of the solution.

How the component is loaded, positioned and secured can have just as much impact on productivity as the marking speed of the laser.

EMS300’s large and open working area makes it possible to develop fixtures and component handling specifically for the product.

Special fixtures, XY tables and automatic tag feeding solutions are examples of equipment that can be integrated into the platform.

LMI can help evaluate the complete process and develop a solution tailored to the actual production requirements.

Option for Marking Long Components

EMS300 features removable side panels, providing additional possibilities for handling long components and simplifying integration into production lines.

For specific applications, the system can also be operated in Class 4 laser mode with a safety override.

This makes it possible to handle components whose size or geometry prevents them from being processed within the normally enclosed workstation.

Class 4 laser operation requires specific safety measures, a proper risk assessment and appropriate protective equipment. LMI can provide advice on laser safety and the appropriate system solution when required.

Robust konstruktion för industriell produktion

EMS300 is designed for industrial use and features a welded steel construction for high stability.

The system weighs approximately 280 kg, while the maximum component weight is specified as 50 kg.

A stable mechanical construction is particularly important for precision marking, as vibrations and movement can affect the marking result.

This makes EMS300 suitable both as a standalone production workstation and as a platform for more advanced customised systems.

EMS300 or EMS400?

EMS300 and EMS400 are both large industrial workstations offering a high degree of flexibility, but they have different strengths.

EMS300 is primarily a flexible platform for large components and customised solutions. XY tables, rotary axes, special fixtures and other component handling systems can be integrated according to the application.

EMS400, on the other hand, is the system to consider when a large programmable XY working area is a central part of the application.

If the main requirement is a large working area and extensive customisation possibilities, EMS300 is therefore a natural choice.

When extensive programmable XY positioning is at the heart of the process, EMS400 becomes the more attractive solution.

LMI can help determine which platform provides the best technical and economic solution for your application.

When Is EMS300 the Right System?

EMS300 is particularly suitable when a standard compact laser marking machine is not sufficient, but the application does not necessarily require a dedicated large multi-axis system.

The generous working area provides space for larger products, fixtures and future changes in production.

At the same time, the customisation possibilities allow the system to evolve with changing production requirements.

This positions EMS300 between a conventional standalone workstation and a fully customised automated laser system.
