TYKMA Electrox Zetalase XLT

Zetalase XLT is an advanced floor-standing laser marking machine designed for marking large components, large graphics and trays containing multiple smaller parts. Its unique marking head provides a continuous marking field of up to 610 × 610 mm without the need for a conventional XY table.

Laser Marking of Large Areas

TYKMA Electrox Zetalase XLT is designed for industrial applications where a conventional marking field is simply not large enough.

The system’s key advantage is its continuous 610 × 610 mm (24 × 24 inch) marking field.

Unlike conventional systems that use mechanical XY axes to move the component or laser head between several smaller marking fields, Zetalase XLT can process the entire area without corresponding mechanical movements.

This provides a flexible solution for large components, large graphics and fixtures or trays containing multiple smaller parts.

610 × 610 mm Continuous Marking Field

Zetalase XLT uses a specially developed marking head that allows the laser beam to be controlled across a significantly larger area than with conventional galvo optics.

The result is a continuous 610 × 610 mm marking field.

This means that large graphics can be created without dividing them into several separate marking fields with potential seams between the individual areas.

For applications involving large logos, text, scales or other graphics, this is a significant advantage as the marking can be created as one continuous design.

Large Marking Fields without a Conventional XY Table

A common method of creating large laser processing areas is to use an XY table that mechanically moves the component between several marking positions.

Zetalase XLT instead uses an optical system capable of processing the entire marking field without a conventional XY table.

This means fewer mechanical movements during the marking process and can result in shorter cycle times for applications that would otherwise require multiple repositioning operations.

It also simplifies programming, as large graphics do not need to be divided and positioned in the same way as with a conventional XY system.

Ideal for Trays with Multiple Components

The large marking field makes Zetalase XLT particularly attractive when multiple smaller components need to be marked within the same production cycle.

A fixture or tray can be filled with components and the entire area programmed as a single marking job.

Automatic Door for Efficient Production

Zetalase XLT is equipped with a vertically opening pneumatic door with an integrated safety system.

In automatic operating mode, the door movement can be integrated into the marking cycle, providing an efficient workflow for repetitive production.

The operator can load components or a complete fixture, start the process and then quickly access the working area once marking is complete.

This makes the system well suited to production environments where both a large marking field and high capacity are important.

Programmable Focus Height

Zetalase XLT features programmable focus height adjustment.

The focus position can be controlled through the system software and adapted to different component heights and product configurations.

This simplifies changeovers between different products and contributes to consistent and repeatable marking quality.

MOPA Fibre Laser for Industrial Marking

Zetalase XLT can be equipped with powerful MOPA fibre lasers for industrial marking.

MOPA technology provides excellent flexibility by allowing the characteristics of the laser pulses to be adapted to different materials and marking requirements.

The system is therefore suitable for applications ranging from fast product identification and machine-readable codes to logos, graphics and more demanding laser processing.

Laser marking provides a permanent mark and normally requires no consumables such as inks, labels or chemicals.

Option for Marking Long and Large Components

For components that are larger than the workstation’s normal enclosed working area, Zetalase XLT can be configured for Class 4 laser operation.

The system features removable side panels that can allow longer components to pass through the workstation.

This provides additional flexibility for special applications where the geometry or size of the component would otherwise limit the possibility of laser marking.

Class 4 laser operation requires specific safety measures, a proper risk assessment and appropriate protective equipment. LMI can provide advice on laser safety and the appropriate system solution when required.

Rotary Marking Option

Zetalase XLT can also be equipped with a rotary unit for marking cylindrical components.

The rotary axis allows the component to be rotated during the marking process, enabling marking around its outer circumference.

This further extends the capabilities of the system by combining a large flat marking field with 360° marking of cylindrical components.

Zetalase XLT or Zetalase XL?

Zetalase XL and Zetalase XLT are both robust floor-standing systems for professional industrial laser marking, but they are designed for different types of applications.

Zetalase XL is a highly flexible workstation with a large physical working area and is well suited to larger components, fixtures and varying production requirements.

Zetalase XLT is primarily designed for applications where the size of the actual marking field is critical. Its continuous 610 × 610 mm marking field makes it possible to process significantly larger areas without a conventional XY table.

If you need to mark large graphics, large flat areas or multiple components across a large fixture, Zetalase XLT is therefore a particularly attractive solution.

When Is a Large Marking Field the Right Solution?

A large marking field is not automatically the best solution for every application.

The size of the marking field affects factors such as the characteristics of the laser beam and the level of detail that can be achieved. For very small markings, a smaller optical field may therefore be a better choice.

Zetalase XLT is particularly effective when large areas need to be processed efficiently and when the alternative would otherwise involve several separate marking positions or a mechanical XY system.
