Lasermet ICS-SOLO – Laser Interlock Controller
Lasermet ICS-SOLO is a compact and cost-effective dual-channel interlock controller for smaller laser installations. It is primarily designed for installations with one interlocked door and one laser, including small laser cells, enclosures and work areas for handheld laser welding.
ICS-SOLO combines the essential safety functions in a simple system and can be connected directly to a dual-channel door interlock switch, the laser, keyswitch, emergency stops and an LED warning sign.
Interlock System for Smaller Laser Installations
ICS-SOLO is a single-input, single-output controller designed for installations that do not require the greater flexibility and expansion capabilities provided by systems such as the Lasermet ICS-9.
Typical applications include:
- small laser cells and safety enclosures
- handheld laser welding areas
- laser installations with one monitored door
- installations controlling a single laser
- medical and cosmetic laser treatment rooms
Dual-Channel Safety
ICS-SOLO is a dual-channel system. Two input switches must simultaneously indicate a safe condition before the laser can be enabled.
This can be achieved using Lasermet’s dual-channel door interlock switch. If the interlocked door is opened, the safety circuit prevents the laser from remaining enabled.
Simple Control of Laser Safety Functions
ICS-SOLO features a straightforward control panel providing the operator with clear information about system status. The controller can be integrated with the key safety functions around the laser area, including:
- dual-channel door interlock switch
- laser or laser interlock input
- keyswitch
- emergency stops
- LED warning sign
Controlled Laser Activation
When the door is closed and the interlock system indicates a safe condition, the operator can enable the system using the keyswitch and then arm the laser.
Status indicators on the control panel show when the safety conditions have been met and when the system is armed. This provides straightforward operation for installations where a more extensive interlock system is not required.
For Handheld Laser Welding
ICS-SOLO is particularly suitable for smaller enclosures and protected work areas used for handheld laser welding. The controller can bring together door monitoring, emergency stops, warning indication and the laser safety function in a single interlock solution.
Its compact design makes it suitable where the installation is relatively simple but still requires a controlled dual-channel safety solution.
Laser Interlock® According to IEC 60825
Lasermet states that the ICS-SOLO complies with the safety requirements of IEC 60825. The system should be installed and configured according to the risk assessment and safety requirements of the individual laser installation.
ICS-SOLO or ICS-9?
ICS-SOLO is primarily intended for simpler installations with one door and one laser. For larger laser installations incorporating multiple doors, additional interlock functions, expansion or more advanced system integration, the Lasermet ICS-9 is the more suitable alternative.
