Dolphin Laser Blocking Curtains – flexible protection for industrial laser areas
Dolphin Laser Blocking Curtains from Lasermet are certified laser safety curtains designed to enclose laser working areas. The curtains help prevent stray laser radiation from escaping a laser-controlled area and can be made to measure for the specific installation.
The Dolphin material is black on both sides and functions as both a laser-blocking barrier and a blackout curtain. The curtains are suitable for industrial laser processes and are particularly useful where flexible guarding is required, including handheld laser welding applications.
Flexible guarding for laser working areas
Laser safety curtains can be used to create a physical barrier around a laser working area without installing a permanent panel-based enclosure. Dolphin Laser Blocking Curtains can be supplied ready-made for ceiling or wall mounting.
The curtains are made to measure for the installation, allowing them to be used for both smaller working areas and larger industrial laser safety installations.
- Made to measure for the installation
- Suitable for wall or ceiling mounting
- Black laser-blocking material on both sides
- Also functions as a blackout curtain
- CE and UKCA marked
- Certified to EN 12254
- Suitable for industrial laser applications
For handheld laser welding and other laser processes
Dolphin Laser Blocking Curtains are well suited to industrial applications where the laser working area needs to be enclosed in a flexible way. Lasermet identifies handheld laser welding as a typical application.
The curtains can also be used for other laser installations where the risk assessment confirms that the protection level of the curtain material is suitable for the laser and process concerned.
Protection levels
| Wavelength range | Protection level |
|---|---|
| 180–315 nm | D AB8 + IR AB3 + M AB5Y |
| 315–1050 nm | D AB6 + IR AB7 + M AB7Y |
| 1050–1400 nm | D AB5 + IR AB7 + M AB7Y |
| 1400–25000 nm | DI AB3 + R AB3Y |
Standards and safety
Dolphin Laser Blocking Curtains are CE marked and certified to EN 12254:2012 – Screens for Laser Working Places. The material also complies with EN 1598 Section 4.4 for fire safety.
The curtains are designed to protect people outside the laser-controlled area from escaped laser radiation. Personnel inside the laser-controlled area must still use appropriate personal protective equipment, such as laser safety eyewear, where required by the risk assessment.
Black matte finish
The Dolphin material is black on both sides and has a matte finish. In addition to providing laser protection, the material therefore also functions as an effective blackout curtain around the laser process.
