Lasermet Monitored LED Ultra Signs – Monitored Laser Warning Signs
Lasermet Monitored LED Ultra Signs are monitored LED warning signs designed for safety-critical laser installations where it is important not only to display the correct safety status but also to monitor the operation of the warning indication itself.
Monitored LED Ultra Signs build on Lasermet’s standard LED Ultra Signs by adding dual redundant operation, fault feedback and lamp failure monitoring. They can be integrated with the laser installation’s interlock system as part of a complete safety solution.
For Safety-Critical Laser Installations
A conventional LED warning sign provides visual information about the current status of a laser controlled area. In a safety-critical installation, it may also be necessary for the safety system to detect if the warning indication is not operating correctly.
Monitored LED Ultra Signs are designed for this type of application, allowing the operation of the sign to be monitored by the interlock system.
Lamp Failure Monitoring
A key feature is Lamp Failure Monitoring. The system monitors the sign illumination and can provide fault feedback if a failure is detected.
This means that the warning sign can function not only as a visual indicator for personnel outside the laser area but also as a monitored component within the safety system.
Dual Redundant Operation
Monitored LED Ultra Signs incorporate dual redundant functionality for increased reliability in safety-critical installations.
This monitored design differentiates the product from standard LED Ultra Signs and makes it particularly suitable where status indication forms an important part of the installation’s safety concept.
Single or Dual Message
Monitored LED Ultra Signs can be configured for both 1-way and 2-way signs.
A dual-message sign can, for example, switch between two clearly defined safety conditions:
- Red: laser active or access prohibited
- Green: safe condition or access permitted
Wording, graphics and status messages can be configured according to the requirements of the installation.
Integration with Interlock Systems
Lasermet states that Monitored LED Ultra Signs can be interfaced with any Interlock Controller, allowing the sign to be integrated directly with the laser installation’s safety control system.
The signs can be combined with components including:
- Lasermet ICS Interlock® Controllers
- door interlocks and safety switches
- door locks and access control
- emergency stops
- laser enable functions
- other components within the laser safety system
Clear Information at Laser Area Entrances
The illuminated signs can be installed at doors and entrances to laser cells, laser controlled areas, laboratories and other controlled environments.
By linking the sign status to the interlock system, the appropriate information can be displayed automatically according to the current safety condition of the laser installation.
Based on the LED Ultra Sign Platform
The monitored version builds on Lasermet’s professional LED Ultra Signs for indoor applications. The backlit LED design provides clear and seamless text and graphics while maintaining a low-profile appearance.
The key difference is the additional safety functionality: Monitored LED Ultra Signs add redundant operation, fault monitoring and feedback for applications where the operation of the warning indication itself needs to be monitored.
For Complete Laser Safety Systems
Monitored LED Ultra Signs are particularly suitable where warning signs need to operate as an integrated and monitored part of a larger laser safety system.
LMI AB can help combine the signs with interlock controllers, door monitoring, door locks and other safety components according to the risk assessment and functional requirements of the installation.
