Laser Castle Lite

Laser Castle Lite – modular laser safety enclosure for smaller laser installations

Laser Castle Lite from Lasermet is a compact, modular, self-build version of the Laser Castle. It is designed as a cost-effective and flexible safety solution for smaller laser installations and can be rapidly assembled, dismantled and relocated within the production environment.

Laser Castle Lite is particularly suitable for handheld laser systems, smaller laser welding installations and small laser robots where Class 3B or Class 4 laser processes need to be contained.

Same laser-blocking material as Laser Castle

Laser Castle Lite is manufactured using the same laser-blocking panel material as Lasermet’s full-size Laser Castle. The panels are designed to prevent hazardous laser radiation from escaping from the enclosed working area.

Lasermet’s modular laser-blocking wall panels are tested and certified to international laser safety standards, including IEC 60825-4 – Safety of Laser Products, Part 4: Laser Guards and ANSI Z136.1.

Portable and modular construction

Laser Castle Lite is designed for self-assembly and is supplied as a modular system that can be rapidly deployed on site. If required, the enclosure can be dismantled and reassembled in another location.

  • Modular panel construction
  • Self-assembly on site
  • Portable and relocatable design
  • Manually operated single door
  • Suitable for handheld lasers and small laser robots
  • For Class 3B and Class 4 laser processes
  • Interlock® ready

Available sizes

The standard size of Laser Castle Lite is 3 × 3 × 2.4 metres. The enclosure can also be configured in smaller sizes depending on the installation and available space.

Configuration Size
Standard 3 × 3 × 2.4 m
Alternative 2 × 3 m
Alternative 2 × 2 m

Optional Interlock® system

Laser Castle Lite can be upgraded with a complete Interlock® system. Depending on the configuration, the system can include door safety interlock switches, an LED warning sign, emergency stop buttons and a door maglock, all connected to an Interlock® Controller.

A configuration integrating Lasermet’s ALF Laser Welding Helmet into the safety system is also available.

Different system configurations

Laser Castle Lite can be supplied in several configurations depending on the safety requirements of the application:

  • Laser Castle Lite – standard passive guarding enclosure without an interlock system
  • Laser Castle Lite with Interlock® System – with ICS-SOLO or ICS-9 Interlock® Controller, door maglock, door interlock switch, LED warning sign and emergency stop buttons
  • Laser Castle Lite with ALF Helmet and Interlock® System – with ICS-7-ALF Interlock® Controller, single or dual ALF Helmet and integrated safety functions

PEL ratings for Laser Castle Lite panels

Panel thickness Irradiated area PEL (T3) 10 s PEL (T2) 100 s
50 mm 4 mm² 150 MW/m² 87 MW/m²
50 mm 2000 mm² 3.1 MW/m² 1.7 MW/m²

Supplied flat-packed in a single crate

Laser Castle Lite is supplied flat-packed in a single crate containing the components required for the selected configuration, including panels, door and roof panels as well as interlock components when included in the system.

Lasermet states that the system can be installed on site within a few hours.

For smaller industrial laser installations

Laser Castle Lite is particularly suitable where a panel-based laser safety enclosure is required but a larger permanent Laser Castle installation is not necessary.

Typical applications include:

  • Handheld laser welding
  • Smaller automated laser processes
  • Small laser robots
  • Research, development and testing environments
  • Production environments where the laser safety enclosure may need to be relocated
